Caithness, Sutherland, and Orkney Islands were the territories of this clan whose origin lie in Norway. The name itself signifies 'war', or 'battle, and the clan lived up to this by being embroiled in a series of conflicts with other clans, including an infamous battle with the Keiths in the late fifteenth century.
