Butteries became popular among fishermen and
working people in Aberdeen & The North East of Scotland
because they were filling, satisfying and provided plenty
of energy for a hard day's work.
Being of a generally flat roundish shape
they were perfect for storing on the
fishermen’s boats for long periods at sea.
