Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

By Jason Miles
on January 12, 2026

Well well well folks! 12th January 2026! Hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and wishing you all a Happy New Year and all the best for 2026! Let's hope it's a good one for all. We were planning on being back on the 5th January but the severe snow storms we had put a stop to that, but that's us back in operation now. For the time being we will operate our winter opening times as follows: Monday to Saturday 10am  - 4pm (Sunday Closed).

Looking back over the festive period we had fun. Listened to a lot of Dean Martin and all the Christmas oldies, we love a bit of Deano and Sinatra and co. It was great to see a lot of regular shoppers with us doing their Christmas shopping, nice to get a catch up and a blether, and nice to see lots of new visitors to the city for the festive period. Christmas Eve we headed out to the Cock and Bull at Balmedie https://www.thecockandbull.co.uk/ with Little Johnny our wee dog for tea. The Cock and Bull let you into the lounge with your dogs, Little Johnny was fair taken with that sitting at the table waiting for his festive treats, they  give you free treats for your pet and you can put a donation which goes to the New Arc Wildlife Rescue Centre, a very worthwhile cause, they do a fantastic job out there looking after sick and injured wild animals. New Arc Wildlife Rescue is a Scottish registered charity (SC037332) which specialises in the rescue and rehabilitation of native wildlife. https://www.newarcwildliferescue.org/about

Christmas morning it was off down to Tunnels at Aberdeen beach for Jase for his Xmas morning surf and then they have their Xmas morning breakfast cook out, they've been doing that for the past 10 years and has became quite a tradition for them now. They've been so lucky with the weather on Christmas morning for the past 10 years, it's mostly been nice clear skies and quite mild, BBQ weather haha! We were back to work on the Saturday 27th through to Hogmanay, the build up to Hogmanay was fantastic, then boom the winter snow got us! It was nice the first few days in the winter wonderland, but it comes with a lot of disruption and dangerous conditions unfortunately so it is good to see the back of the snow, but for how long? Will there be more to come? Fingers crossed that's the last of it. Great to be back, and looking forward to seeing you all through 2026.....have a good one! x

Whether seeking mellow slopes, challenging gully descents, a snow-reliable tour, or the best place to ski and snowboard in midsummer, this guide unlocks every aspect of the sport in the Cairngorms.

"Between them, Blair Aitken, Jamie Johnston, Katie Henderson and Scott Muir must have explored every skiable nook and cranny in the Cairngorms, and their book is the definitive guide to backcountry snow-sliding in this wonderful part of the world."

Roger Cox (The Scotsman & Scotland on Sunday)

"Books like this don't come around often. They are born from a deep love and passion for the discipline—and for the authors' chosen playground: the Cairngorms. Steeped in local knowledge, rich folklore, and a genuine love for the sport, this book is a celebration of snowboarding and skiing in one of Scotland’s most iconic landscapes."

Aberdeen Surf Club - Fittie Foamie Comp (Tunnels) 2024

By Jason Miles
on October 08, 2024

We had great fun Saturday at the Aberdeen Surf Club Fittie Foamie comp, which was actually held at the South Tunnel to catch the southerly swell, it was just a bit too sheltered at Fittie so the decision was made by the committee to run at Tunnels and what a call that was. Ended up with great conditions as the tide dropped. Annie put on a fantastic breakfast buffet for the officials,  and sandwiches for lunch along with Michelle at the Funhouse who came down with hot soup to go with the sandwiches. We ended up with so much food we were able to feed the competitors and spectators. Happy days,  happy faces, fantastic day at the comp!
