Handcrafted by the Family ❤️

There’s something rather special about a family-run shop. For us, it’s not just about bringing lovely Scottish gifts into our shop — quite a few of the things you’ll find on our shelves are actually made by members of our own family, right here in Aberdeen, Scotland.

And that’s something we’re incredibly proud of.

So, we’ve been slowly building a new section on our website called “Handcrafted by the Family”, where we can showcase some of the unique creations made, painted and handcrafted by our family members.

At the moment, you’ll find:

  • 🎨 Mum’s Art & Creations
  • 🐮 Coo by Sue
  • 🍎 Annie Apple’s Art
  • 🔨 Stuff by Jase

It’s very much a work in progress, and we’ll be adding more creations as we go. There are plenty of ideas, projects and little treasures still to come, so we hope you’ll enjoy watching this section grow with us.

A little bit of Jase's handiwork...

Jase has always been busy making all sorts of bits and pieces for the shop, and you’ll find some of his creations in his Stuff by Jase section.

But he’s also recently started working on something a little different — special, unique, one-off numbered creations.

His very first numbered piece is JM001, an ornamental Sgian Dubh, and this one is rather special indeed.

Handcrafted using Cairngorm Scottish Red Deer Antler, 316-grade stainless steel and solid oak wood, JM001 has been made as a unique collector’s piece celebrating Scottish craftsmanship and heritage.

It also comes with a slate-engraved plaque featuring the Declaration of Arbroath, while the rear of the plaque is engraved with details about the piece, including its number, date and Jase’s signature.

Being the very first numbered creation, JM001 is truly a one-off.

It’s the sort of piece that could make a wonderful gift for someone who loves Scottish history, craftsmanship and unique pieces with a story behind them — or perhaps something special to display and treasure yourself.

For now, JM001 is on display in our shop in Aberdeen, where you can have a closer look at this very first creation.

And this is just the beginning...

What we love most about our Handcrafted by the Family collection is that every piece has a little bit of family behind it.

Some are painted, some are crafted, some are completely one-of-a-kind, and others are simply the result of someone in the family thinking, “I wonder if I could make that…” 😄

We’ll keep adding new creations to the website as they’re made, so there will always be something new to discover.

More creations, more ideas and more family-made Scottish treasures are on the way.

Watch this space — we’re only just getting started! ❤️
